My Vietnam's Hidden Gems: Ly Son Island, Phu Yen, and Vinh Hy Bay

Over the course of two years, I've had the privilege of visiting these three captivating destinations along Vietnam's stunning coastline multiple times. Delving into their unique charms, I've come to appreciate what makes each one so special. The serene beaches and quaint towns nestled by the sea offer a tranquil escape from the bustling cities like Saigon or Hanoi. While many of these beach towns are popular tourist spots, there are hidden gems waiting to be discovered, where you can truly immerse yourself in the peaceful rhythms of coastal life.

Lý Sơn

Lý Sơn District
Lý Sơn District, Quang Ngai, Vietnam

Lý Sơn, located in Quang Ngai, is a prominent island just a three-hour drive from Da Nang, yet it offers a remarkably serene escape from the bustling city life. Renowned for its specialty garlic, which boasts powerful antioxidants, the island is a haven for farmers. Don't miss the chance to sample the unique black garlic, a delicacy known for its sweet, candy-like flavor resulting from fermentation – it's exceptionally beneficial for the elderly.

Life on the island unfolds at a leisurely pace, characterized by tranquility and serenity. While sandy beaches may be scarce, the landscape is adorned with mountains and coral reefs, offering opportunities for swimming and diving at affordable prices. Although nightlife options are limited, the island's quiet charm makes it an ideal setting for daytime relaxation, perhaps accompanied by a good book. And when night falls, prepare to be dazzled by the sight of countless stars adorning the sky – a truly mesmerizing experience.

Phú Yên

Phú Yên
Phú Yên, Vietnam

Located adjacent to Nha Trang, this coastal province offers a serene atmosphere and a plethora of delectable cuisine to indulge in. The surroundings are adorned with stunning natural landscapes, including beaches, mountains, rocky cliffs, islands, coral reefs, and verdant grasslands. Whether you're in search of a relaxing day at the beach or an adventurous hike in the mountains, this province has it all.

For a more diverse experience, consider combining your visit here with a trip to Nha Trang, known for its vibrant nightlife scene and an array of international dining options. With an abundance of pubs and bistros serving top-notch cuisine from around the world, it's a culinary paradise that promises to tantalize your taste buds.

Vĩnh Hy Bay

Vinh Hy
Vinh Hy, Vĩnh Hải, Ninh Hải District, Ninh Thuận, Vietnam

Keeping the best for the finale, this destination holds a special place in my heart. The ocean's clarity invites you to dive in and explore the vibrant coral reefs, offering a tranquility that contrasts with the bustling atmosphere of Nha Trang. Situated just a two-hour drive away from Nha Trang, this gem boasts pristine beaches and delectable seafood cuisine, away from the tourist crowds. Whether you're diving, paddleboarding, or simply lounging on the beach, the activities here are surprisingly affordable. With its enchanting beauty captured in every photograph, this place is a true paradise waiting to be discovered.
