We'll begin our adventure with a 20 minutes drive to the drop in point to the entrance of the cave. Pass through orange orchard with high chances to spot wildlife, then prepare to navigate through 5 different caves enjoying impressive chambers filled with amazing formations. It has a fair number of small rapids that can even beginner paddlers can navigate the river safely during the dry season. During our trip we will stop for a relaxing lunch, taking in the magnificent mountain and cave entrance view, with an opportunity to swim in the clear water of our beautiful river.

Xunantunich Mayan Ruins Tour from San Ignacio

Xunantunich Maya Temple means “Maiden of the Rock," and it is located only 30 minutes south-west of San Ignacio Town, in the beautiful village of San Jose Succotz. This makes this site one of the most accessible Maya Temples in the area. To gain access to this magnificent site one must cross the Mopan River on a hand-cranked ferry. This is also a great place to pick up souvenirs and popular gift items like hand-made hammocks, slate carvings, jewelry, etc.
Xunantunich Maya Pyramid and Barton Creek Cave canoeing combo
This combination tour consists of a morning tour of Xunantunich Maya Temple which is located 20 minutes driving distance from San Ignacio Town in the Maya Village of San Jose Succotz. To get to the site one must cross the Mopan River by a hand cranked ferry, which then gives us access to the one mile ascent into one of Belize’s most popular sites. Here you will enjoy sightings of pristine jungle surroundings, howler monkeys, spider monkeys, birds and iguanas. After lunch we head to Barton Creek Cave, which was once used by the Maya as a sacred ceremonial site. This cave is only accessible by canoe and requires minimal physical activity as you glide along gently. The drive to the cave is very scenic, passing through a few Maya Villages along the way. Formations of stalactites and stalagmites found inside are remarkable. This combo tour begins at 8:30am and concludes around 4:30pm. This is a great option for families and fun for all ages.
