A day in Saint-Émilion and its Châteaux in a private tour (Van Luxe)
Discover with your local guide, the medieval village of Saint-Émilion, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999. You will be seduced by this stroll through the pedestrian streets of the village of Monk Emilion, and by the beauty of this heritage. Learn the history of the castles of the Pomerol appellations, and the Jurisdiction of Saint-Émilion. Live the passion for the vineyard of their founders, descendants and new passionate owners. Learn more about the different classifications of the Bordeaux vineyard, and about the different winemaking techniques. During the day, you will visit three Châteaux of different appellations around Saint-Émilion. Each visit will conclude with a tasting. Photo stops can be made in front of some of the biggest names in the vineyard, such as Château Ausone, Château Angelus, Château Cheval Blanc, or Château Petrus, in Pomerol.
Saint-Emilion: Food and Wine escape
Depart from the city center of Bordeaux aboard a van to discover Saint-Emilion, its wines, and its history. First, your guide will immerse you in the history of this UNESCO World Heritage site and its historical monuments. You will discover the secrets of this medieval town, which is the birthplace of Bordeaux viticulture. At noon, a visit and tasting of 3 wines will await you in a Château of the appellation. On the menu, a picnic from an artisanal and traditional caterer, who proposes fresh, local and tasty products, as well as charcuterie from the Basque Country and cheese, accompanied by a glass of wine! Afterwards, you will visit a second Château and enjoy a tasting of 2 wines. You will learn more about the specificities of this appellation, including the grape varieties and the winemaking techniques used to create these unique wines. Private Wine Lovers - Super St Emilion - behind the scenes visits top chateaux and medieval town
St Emilion is called the 'hillside of a 1000 châteaux' and you will get a great insight into the famous classified properties and their wines contrasted with the smaller producers here. Despite the famous names here (such as Chanel and Louis Vuitton) this atmospheric place is still dominated by small family run places (these I call the SIPs - Small Independent Producers). We will visit 3 châteaux of contrasting terroirs and styles. I am an insider here. My partner makes Grand Cru classé wine here too so this will be an additional stop. I will delight in sharing with you the key sites and the gossip! We will have time to visit the picturesque St Emilion village founded in the 9th century (if you like instead of a 3rd wine château there is an underground monolithic church organised by the Tourist office). We will visit the small neighbouring appellation of Pomerol too where the iconic Petrus is located. Lots to see, taste and great passionate people to meet in my home town!
