6 Wine Tasting in Valpolicella Classica: the cradle of Amarone
Our vineyards are on average 30/50 years old and are cultivated following the typical “pergola veronese” or “filare speronato” (guyot) methods. All producing procedures of our wine take place within our small farm, Agricola Franchini. Tradition and pride coming from the cultivation of our own vineyard is priceless, so we make sure that very operation in the fields is done manually, from the pruning to the natural fertilization, with patience and respect for our nature. For this reasons, we place these aspects at the first places.

The golden age of Vicenza began in 1540, when the Venetian aristocracy decided to reorganize the city and its countryside and called Andrea di Pietro della Gondola, known as Palladio, one of the greatest architects of the time, for the arduous task. Palladio was commissioned to design the new residences owned by the Venetian nobles and so it was that in those years Vicenza began to enrich itself with marvelous private palaces and public buildings while extraordinary villas were designed in the countryside. “The city of Vicenza and the villas of Palladio in the Veneto” have thus been nominated a UNESCO Site for a total of 23 Vicenza palaces and 24 villas in the surrounding area.

Villa Valmarana ai Nani in Vicenza - Entrance Ticket
Villa Valmarana ai Nani, just outside the town of Vicenza, is an extraordinary monumental complex that includes the ‘Palazzina’ (Owner’s Residence), the Foresteria (Guest-House) – both frescoed by Giambattista and Giandomenico Tiepolo - and the Scuderia (Stables), within a historical park. It's surrounded by walls decorated with Statues of Dwarfs. It's the only place in the world where you can admire together the art of the father, Giambattista and the son’s, Giandomenico Tiepolo. The Villa is still owned and inhabited by the Valmarana family, who commissioned the frescoes in 1757.
