Rincon Visit with Local Guide
Rincon Village is the oldest village in Bonaire and rich in history. It is also the most senior community within the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba. Initially settled by the Spanish in the early 1500s, Rincon was strategically nestled within a valley to ward off impending danger from pirates and other threats. In the 17th century, enslaved people were brought to Bonaire and worked tending crops and the salt pans until 1863. Living in Rincon, the slave men would walk a 7-hour journey south for work and then return on weekends to gather supplies at Mangazina di Rei (King’s storehouse) and visit their families. We will stop at the Cadushi distillery, where you can taste the local cactus liquor made on Bonaire for free. After visiting Cadushi, we will stop at our last stop - a local restaurant called Posada. Here you can try native island food and taste the local flavour. Please click on the Itinerary tab at the top to see our 10 points of interest!

The bushy and beautiful trees and their deep, webbed roots protect Bonaire from extreme weather conditions. It’s rumoured that they’re strong enough to withstand the wind and water to slow a tsunami! While driving south to the Mangroves, your guide will inform you about the history and sites of Bonaire. You’ll also have a chance to ask questions and explore before arriving at beautiful Lac Bay.
Indian's Description Tour with Local Guide
An experienced guide will lead you to Bonaire's wildly beautiful East side on this tour. Often missed by tourists, the island's east side has breathtaking views of crashing waves hitting the rocky coast, cliff-like cave corals, "Bocas" or mouths of the sea, and unobstructed views. Numerous boats ship-wrecked on this side of the island before a lighthouse was put in place, and there's proof that native Indians inhabited some of the cliff coves at one point. Your guide will take you to one such cove and show you Indian inscriptions that are believed to be markings of the Arawak Indians. They have been dated back to at least the 15th century. Our next stop will be Boca Onima, where you can feel the power of the waves surging against Bonaire's shore and view the wind turbines crucial in supplying energy to the land. Just be sure to hold on to your hat! Throughout this journey, your guide will point out nature and history and tell you about Bonaire culture.
Donkey Sanctuary Tour with a Local Guide
On this tour, you will experience Bonaire's Donkey Sanctuary - a habitat created to rescue donkeys needing extra care, food and water. You will interact with the donkeys throughout the drive as they regularly "say hello" and attempt to put their noses through the car window! You can also purchase a few carrots at the sanctuary to feed a few lucky donkeys while on your visit. At the sanctuary, you will also see a few other things. The Special Care Unit is an area of the sanctuary where we will learn about the services provided to bring a distressed donkey back to health. You can also visit the garden, where you will see local plants, tortoises, and iguanas. Climbing the watchtower will give you a great view of the entire sanctuary and an excellent photo opportunity. We'll round out our visit with a refreshing drink from the terrace, where you can spot some beautiful pink flamingos over the salt lake.
