Soave: history and excellence in wines, in Verona hillside

The sweet hillside between Verona and Vicenza is well known for its excellent wines. One of these takes its name from a small village, standing at the feet of an impressive medieval castle: Soave. Conceived as a defensive hub by the Veronese family Della Scala, which ruled the city for 125 years between the 13th and the 14th century, the two was circled by massive walls, connecting to the fortress, which still dominates the surrounding landscape.
