Sometimes elk hang out in the village unafraid of people. Lamar Valley could have been carved out by glaciers thousands of years ago. Now what is left behind is boulders that must have also been moved by glaciers. You will see them strewn around before you get to Lamar Valley proper. The soil in Lamar is suitable for lush grass that you will see. And that attracts bison, pronghorn, elk. But it also attracts wolves and Grizzlies that want to have the other animals previously mentioned for meal.
