While Coimbra has only been classified as World Heritage in 2013, when both its monuments as well as traditions have been recognized by UNESCO (a specialized agency of the UN for Education, Science and Culture), it's safe to say that this city – also known as the “City of Knowledge” - holds unexpected surprises at each corner either by the unique beauty of its historical buildings or even the singular aura lend by a student life filled with centuries of tradition! During this walking tour through the Historic Center we will discover the different reasons that allowed for such classification, going from the Downtown to the Uptown while we unveil its importance in the History of Portugal and the material and immaterial values within the classified perimeter.
